Colibri Gardens Regenerative Agriculture Internships
Our farm internships immerse you in homesteading life! Our interns become an immediate part of our family- we live together, eat together, work together, and play together!
While you are here you will be involved in all aspects of our farming operation. You will milk goats, herd sheep, set up fencing for our rotationally grazed cows, pigs, goats and sheep. You will get your hands dirty in the garden, chop firewood, make cheese, build a structure or two....
and of course cook and clean and go for trips to swim in the river, build forts with Nate, and play all sorts of games!
Ours days on the farm are long and full of excitement, and you will probably work harder than you have ever worked in your life. But you will also laugh and be in awe of all the magnificent wonders of the farm, and you will learn more than you ever thought possible to learn in a summer.
Who we are looking for:
-Someone who wakes up and jumps out of bed ready for the adventures of the day!
-Someone who can't wait to get dirty, learn something new, get kissed by a furry animal, and giggle with kids.
-Someone who relishes in challenging their body and mind, and who gets excited about puzzles whose answers require heavy lifting.
-Someone who has dreamed of sitting on a hillside with a flock of sheep and a herd of goats.
-And finally- someone who loves to work hard, really hard- in other words- an aspiring farmer!
What you are looking for:
-A full immersion into farming and homesteading.
-An experience that will challenge you in ways you didn't even know possible.
-A loving family that will adopt you, want to hear about your life, and share their life experiences with you.
-A place where you can turn off your phone and be present, alive, and connected to the land, the animals, and the present moment.
-The knowledge and skills that will set you on a fantastic and magical path of farming and homesteading.
Is this a paid internship?
No, we do not pay you...but while you are here you will get an incredible education in farm management, animal husbandry, gardening, nutrition, and more. You will have a gorgeous, safe, clean, warm place to live. We will feed you incredible, organic, home cooked meals made mostly from food we grow and raise. And we will teach you everything and anything you want to know about farming.
Our internships begin in March and go through October. We ask for a 3 month commitment or you can stay through the whole farming season. To apply for our internship program please send us an email telling us a little about yourself and why you are interested!
We are delighted to host interns from all racial backgrounds, sexual orientations, and economic situations.
